Huda Kattan has built an empire on transparency, and her latest Instagram post is no different. The Huda Beauty founder took to social media to share a personal health update: after more than 12 years with breast implants, she discovered they had ruptured, leading to significant inflammation, fluid buildup and early-stage infection.
“I kept telling myself, ‘I’ll check them later,'” she wrote in the post. “Life gets busy, and we push things aside, especially when they don’t feel urgent.”
“Don’t wait for pain. Don’t put it off. Your health is not something to ‘check on later,’” she wrote. “Honestly, I feel so lucky I caught it when I did because it could’ve been so much worse.”
Plastic surgeons advise that breast implants aren’t lifetime devices and should be evaluated over time, with some recommending reassessment around the 10-year mark, though replacement isn’t always necessary unless there’s an issue. Because ruptures can be silent, especially with silicone implants, regular screening is important, with the FDA recommending MRIs starting three years after surgery and every two years after that.
The beauty founder credited her surgeon, Miami- and Dubai-based plastic surgeon Georges J. Samaha, MD and said she was sharing her experience as a message to others. “We don’t talk about this enough… and so many of us are walking around not knowing what’s happening inside our own bodies,” she added. “Listen to your body. Stay on top of it. Take care of YOU.”
