Ahead, we spoke with Ta himself to learn more about the new concealer and his signature blending technique.
What Makes This Formula Unique?
Buildable coverage was nonnegotiable for this formula. “I wanted it to be hydrating and comfortable, while still delivering reliable performance,” says Ta. A quick scan of the INCI list underscores its skin-first approach, with ingredients including vitamin E and hyaluronic acid for hydration and vitamin C to brighten and even tone.
“The formula was developed to feel balanced on the skin, and because of that balance, it naturally sets into place while maintaining a soft, blurred finish,” Ta continues. “It was a long time in the making, and I tested it on so many different skin tones and textures to make sure it truly works in real life. It had to be an everyday concealer and something dependable that wears beautifully throughout the day while keeping your glow intact.”
How to Master Patrick Ta’s Blending Technique
Perfecting concealer comes down to two things: placement and application. “Concealer needs to be placed with intention,” says Ta, “starting with the inner corner of the eye, slightly lifted toward the outer corner, around the nose, smile lines or anywhere you want to softly blur or add light.”
Blending requires the same level of attention. “For me, it starts before you even pick up the brush,” he continues. “After applying the concealer [and before I let it set], I take the fluffy side of the dual-ended brush and lightly diffuse the edges. This ensures it seamlessly blends into the rest of the look. Then, I allow the areas where I want extra brightness, usually the inner corners, to sit and set slightly into the skin.” Too many layers can lead to cakiness; instead, the goal is to build coverage gradually.
That’s where the dual-ended brush comes in. “The denser side is used to press and pack the product into place exactly where I need it,” Ta says. “This technique diffuses the concealer into the skin and keeps it looking skin-like. To finish, I blend everything with a light bounce of my five-in-one blending sponge, making everything seamless and effortless. Concealer can do so much more than mask—it can create light and dimension. That’s what balances glow, lifts the face and softens natural shadows, allowing the skin to look like skin.”
