Few people had a bigger 2026 than Jordyn Woods. The orange Tux Clutch Mini she designed for her brand, Woods by Jordyn, became the Knicks’ unofficial good-luck charm during their championship run, sold out and ended up on display at the Guggenheim. Two months after the title, she married Karl-Anthony Towns in Malibu. Now, with a new season underway and flu season right behind it, she’s teaming up with Walgreens on its Don’t Get Benched by the Flu campaign, which brought a larger-than-life, basketball-inspired bench to Herald Square ahead of the Knicks’ crosstown matchup. Here, she talks about staying well when the calendar won’t slow down, what’s actually in her game-day bag and what building a business has taught her.
You’re partnering with Walgreens on its Don’t Get Benched by the Flu campaign. What’s the idea behind it, and why did it feel right for you?
“For me, it’s just my lifestyle these days: the people I’m exposed to with being at the games and work and managing everything. It’s so important for me to not get sick and prevent that, because there’s too much to do and places to be and work to be done. As a business owner, having the pop-up and different things where I’m around thousands of people, this was important to me because it’s something that can help me stay as sharp as possible and tip-top and be able to be at all these places.”
Flu season hits right when everything gets busy. How do you keep up without getting sidelined?
“Well, the flu shot definitely helps. And just making sure that when you’re done, you’re keeping your hands clean and making sure you disinfect. I like to always shower after I’m done with things like that and make sure I’m clean and fresh. And then also taking your vitamins, being proactive about your health, trying to get as much sleep as possible, even though I can’t say I’m prioritizing that. But overall, just trying to remember to take care of yourself and do as many preventative things as you can.”
Are there any Walgreens products you always have to have?
“I feel like I get a million things from Walgreens, from Aquaphor ($15) to allergy medication to lip balm, snacks, water, vitamins. Whatever you need. Sometimes a Celsius, you name it.”
Walk me through your game-day get ready with me. What beauty products make it into your bag?
“I always have a bunch of things in my bag, from tech stuff to beauty stuff. I always try to keep a portable charger, a phone light, sometimes my extra phone, my lip balm, powder, a powder puff and a bunch of others. Sometimes a camera. I don’t even know what I put in my bag today, but a mini brush. You never know what you need. I always keep a bunch of things in my bag.”
Your courtside looks get so much attention, and your bag went viral. How do you plan your looks, and do you feel pressure to keep it up?
“Honestly, I’m trying to eliminate that pressure out of my life and really just go into the superstitions during the playoffs, because to me, that’s when I am more superstitious. For the normal season, there’s 80-something games. It’s too much to try to maintain. For me, it’s really just: I love clothes, I love fashion, I don’t overthink it. I’m just like, O.K., how can I show up and be comfortable? It’s always really cold in there, so I like to wear a jacket. And I’m really there to support. It’s not really about me and my looks, even though people love it. At the end of the day, I’m there to support.”
Congratulations on your recent nuptials. Was there anything you did to get ready that you’d recommend to brides-to-be?
“Honestly, people do put a lot of pressure on themselves to do a million different things to get ready for their wedding. I personally didn’t have the time to, because the Finals came, and then it was a bunch of press and this and that, and then it was a week or two before my wedding, and that’s all I had. Overall, I love lymphatic massages. I got one every other day that week, and I got two facials. And that was it. But really just making sure you’re not inflamed, sleeping, staying hydrated. I got an IV. That’s about it. It wasn’t really that crazy. And honestly, if I had more time, I probably would have done a lot more.”
What has building Woods by Jordyn taught you, and what can we expect next?
“It taught me that every bump in the road is actually a positive thing, because you learn what not to do the next time. With the lucky bag, there was a lot of demand. With preorder, I realized I don’t want a preorder model again because it’s hard to gauge exactly when something will arrive if there are changes in weather or shipping or things that are out of your control. At the end of the day, if someone wants something, they want it then and there, and it just gets very tricky. But overall, having a business is a constant learning experience. I’m just inspired to keep building the community of people that we have and bringing joy to people through fashion. It’s fun, and it’s also a lot of work.”
