The most recognizable sticker in the produce aisle is headed to Ulta Beauty shelves. Chiquita Banana has teamed up with body-care brand iota to create the limited-edition iota/Chiquita Banana Lip Treatment ($28).
This lip treatment isn’t just another artificially scented fruity fad. Instead, the clear, glossy treatment uses banana extract, derived from actual Chiquita bananas. The formula also features ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, peptides, prebiotics, postbiotics and plant stem cell-derived ingredients.
The gloss goes on clear and melts onto lips, leaving a silky, non-sticky finish with a natural shine. As for the scent, expect something soft and creamy rather than artificial and sickly sweet. The brand describes it as “the fruit at its exact right day,” which anyone who has ever waited on a green banana will appreciate.

“Bananas are having a moment in beauty, but they’ve been part of beauty rituals for generations,” says iota co-founder Monique Meneses in a press release. When iota decided to pursue a banana-based product, the team knew where to turn. “If you’re going to formulate with bananas, you do it with the brand that has been synonymous with them for more than 80 years,” she says.
For Chiquita, the launch is a way to reach fans outside the grocery store. Andre Quadra, the company’s director of marketing, calls it “a fresh and unexpected way to experience a brand they already know and love.”
