Ricki Lake Marks Her ‘Legendary’ Facelift Anniversary the Unfiltered Way

Two summers ago, Ricki Lake underwent a deep plane face and necklift—and she hasn’t been shy about the results since. After confirming the procedure on Watch What Happens Live in 2025, she marked last year’s anniversary with an unusually detailed look at how everything had healed.

This year is no exception: for the second year running, the actress is back with new photos, an update on her skin and the same refreshing honesty that made her reveal go viral. It’s also a testament to how far facelifts have come—modern techniques like hers deliver refreshed rather than “done,” a world away from the tight, wind-swept results that once made people nervous about the procedure altogether.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, July 18, Lake shared a carousel of unfiltered photos charting her transformation, from her pre-surgery consultations to candid recovery shots to a glowing, makeup-free selfie two years later. “Happy 2 year anniversary to me,” she began the post’s caption. “Yes, 2 years ago today, I had a face lift. Specifically, for those wondering, I had a deep plane lower face and neck lift, along with a mild CO2 laser.”

As she did on her one-year anniversary, Lake credited Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Allen Foulad, MD, for what she called a “wonderful” experience, adding that her results have continued to look remarkably natural well beyond the initial healing period.

She also revisited the motivation behind her decision: after losing 40 pounds, Lake was left with loose, hanging skin beneath her chin that no amount of diet or exercise was going to fix on its own. “It was never going to tighten up by itself,” she wrote, of the excess skin that can linger after major weight loss. “I took a leap of faith and I’m so grateful I did.”

Lake’s comments section quickly filled with support, with many followers praising just how undetectable her results still look two years out—several calling it one of the most natural facelifts they’ve ever seen. It’s a theme that’s followed Lake since day one: rather than chasing a “snatched” or overdone look, her deep plane lift was designed to address her specific concern (that stubborn loose neck and jaw skin) while keeping the rest of her face looking like, well, her—just without the excess skin.

Lake also used the moment to reflect on the broader shift she’s watched happen around plastic surgery. She said she’s glad to see so many other public figures being open about their own procedures over the past couple of years, joining a growing list of celebrities—including Kris Jenner and Rosie O’Donnell—who have gone public with their own cosmetic surgery journeys.

What’s kept fans coming back to Lake’s posts, year after year, isn’t just the results—it’s her insistence on showing her work, literally. From her original reveal on Watch What Happens Live, where she called it “the best facelift” she’d ever seen, to her detailed one-year breakdown of her exact procedures and post-op care, Lake has never held back on naming her surgeon, her techniques or her recovery timeline for anyone considering the same treatment—all in service of stripping away any lingering stigma around the decision.

Now, on the other side of two full years, Lake’s message remains the same: this was one of the best decisions she’s ever made for herself, and she’s still an open book about it.
