Kaley Cuoco has always been open about her plastic surgery and cosmetic treatments, and this time is no different. Chatting with Amanda Hirsch on an episode of her Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Cuoco talked about it, including how many times she’s gotten breast implants and a funny inaugural neurotoxin experience. The episode aired Tuesday.
Back in 2014, long before celebrities were as transparent about any cosmetic work they got done as they are now, Cuoco shared she first got breast implants in 2004, at age 18. Now, fast forward more than 20 years since her original surgery, and Cuoco is again opening up about her breast implant experience, which she’s called “the best decision” she’s ever made.
In the Not Skinny But Not Fat interview, Hirsch brings up that Cuoco was one of the first celebs to talk about getting work done, with Cuoco joking that she’s the “leader of the pack.” Cuoco then shares that since it’s been 20 years since her first pair of breast implants, she’s actually on her second pair now, but this may not even be her last. “I would love a third pair,” Cuoco revealed on the episode.
Depending on the age you get breast implants, you may need to consider multiple pairs, as Cuoco has done. “There is no finite time frame for implant replacement,” says Eugene, OR plastic surgeon Mark Jewell, MD. “Current-generation implants should last many years.”
However, Dr. Jewell notes that some breast implant brands, such as Mentor, have a “24 percent rupture rate at 10 years.” This means that around 10 years post-surgery, you may need a replacement. “All manufacturer’s implants may leak or disrupt and benefit from replacement,” says La Jolla, CA plastic surgeon Robert Singer, MD. “While many patients will only need one set of implants, a patient must be aware that implants may not last forever.”
Rather than waiting to find out that you need replacement implants, after a rupture or other negative effect has occurred, “periodic diagnostic ultrasound imaging to determine implant integrity every year or so,” recommends Dr. Jewell. “Ultrasound exams can be performed by the plastic surgeon in the office.”
The Big Bang Theory actress has also been open about other work she’s gotten done over the years, including a rhinoplasty, neurotoxins and filler. Earlier in the conversation, she also shared that she gets filler in her neck treat lines she’s had her whole life.
She also revealed her own funny first experience with neurotoxins, which she first tried about halfway through filming The Big Bang Theory. “My first Botox, I did my forehead and I did all this stuff and I was so excited,” Cuoco told Hirsch. “There is a scene where I have to do this thing with my face and I could not move.” So she’s since re-evaluated where to get neurotoxin injections, and instead focuses on areas like her crow’s feet and neck, “Now I don’t do my forehead, but sister, I love Botox,” she said.
