Dyson CameraJet: The Details
Unveiled by founder and chief engineer Sir James Dyson in Paris, CameraJet is equipped with—you guessed it—a camera, which uses technology called Gap Optical Targeting that can actually see the spaces between your teeth. Essentially, when the camera identifies a gap that needs attention (where plaque is building up, leading to potential cavities), the toothbrush delivers a targeted burst of mouthwash directly to that area. But, instead of the narrow, high-pressure stream associated with traditional water flossers, Dyson developed a conical-shaped jet designed to sweep across the space with wider coverage while being gentler on the gums and enamel.
When it comes to the actual toothbrush functionality, CameraJet, which comes in Ceramic Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink, uses variable sonic oscillation to keep the bristles moving as they come into contact with your teeth. The dual-bristle brush head combines slightly firmer bristles for surface-stain removal with softer outer bristles intended for the gumline.

Dyson engineers and scientists have spent well over a decade understanding oral-care regimens and how nasties build up in the mouth. Our research has shown that people consistently miss the areas where plaque forms: the gaps between teeth. We wanted to solve three fundamental problems: how to see those gaps, remove plaque and how to improve cleaning performance while brushing.”
Of course there’s app connectivity, too. CameraJet connects to the MyDyson app, turning the camera into more than a mechanism for automatically targeting gaps between your teeth. During live viewing, you can see your teeth as you brush, while the app provides coverage mapping and feedback about areas you may be consistently missing. The brand also offers guided cleaning routines for anyone who wants more direction, and a sensitive brush head option for those with more delicate smiles. In today’s ultra-connected world, there will be concerns about privacy, but Dyson assures that any images aren’t recorded or stored, either on the device or in the cloud. The camera only activates for live viewing or the automatic jetting function.
Lastly, the device will reboot on a charging dock, which also serves as hygienic storage and a refilling station for mouthwash. It refills the toothbrush with the quick push of a button, and in just three seconds. A travel case is also included, so your routine can stay consistent on the go.
There Will Be More Dyson Smile-Care Products Coming Soon
Dyson plans to launch an SLS-free toothpaste, which it says will help keep the camera’s view clear so Gap Optical Targeting can work properly. A low-foaming mouthwash is also being developed for use with the precision jet.
