{"id":3343,"date":"2026-10-13T02:01:06","date_gmt":"2026-10-12T18:01:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nichebeaty.com\/index.php\/2026\/10\/13\/47-percent-of-adults-say-their-skin-is-more-sensitive-than-five-years-ago\/"},"modified":"2026-10-13T02:01:06","modified_gmt":"2026-10-12T18:01:06","slug":"47-percent-of-adults-say-their-skin-is-more-sensitive-than-five-years-ago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nichebeaty.com\/index.php\/2026\/10\/13\/47-percent-of-adults-say-their-skin-is-more-sensitive-than-five-years-ago\/","title":{"rendered":"47 Percent of Adults Say Their Skin Is More Sensitive Than Five Years Ago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"block-content\">\n<div class=\"article-segment\">\n<p class=\"text-md mb-6 leading-relaxed text-gray-500\">Most adults worry about how their environment affects their skin, but few are doing much about it, according to new CeraVe research unveiled October 2 at the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Congress in Vienna.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-md mb-6 leading-relaxed text-gray-500\">The brand surveyed 6,000 adults in the U.K., France, Germany, Italy and Spain about how they understand the skin barrier and respond to everyday environmental stress.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"article-segment\">\n<p class=\"text-md mb-6 leading-relaxed text-gray-500\">Ninety percent of respondents said they were concerned about at least one environmental factor affecting their skin, and 81 percent said protection beyond UV exposure is important. Only 22 percent reported using products designed to support the skin barrier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-md mb-6 leading-relaxed text-gray-500\">Respondents also reported changes in their skin and habits:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"my-6 ml-6 list-disc space-y-2 text-gray-800\">\n<li class=\"pl-2 leading-relaxed\"><strong class=\"font-semibold\">47 percent<\/strong> said their skin is more sensitive than it was five years ago.<\/li>\n<li class=\"pl-2 leading-relaxed\"><strong class=\"font-semibold\">50 percent<\/strong> reported dryness they linked to their environment or changing weather.<\/li>\n<li class=\"pl-2 leading-relaxed\"><strong class=\"font-semibold\">10 percent<\/strong> said they take extra skin-care steps when pollution levels are high.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"text-md mb-6 leading-relaxed text-gray-500\">The findings also suggest that complicated beauty routines don\u2019t necessarily stick. Fifty-five percent of respondents said skin care has to be simple or they won\u2019t follow it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-md mb-6 leading-relaxed text-gray-500\">\u201cPeople may experience dryness, tightness or sensitivity without realizing these can be linked to the skin barrier,\u201d says board-certified dermatologist Andrew Park, MD. \u201cWhile awareness matters, clear and trusted guidance is the most important factor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-md mb-6 leading-relaxed text-gray-500\">\u201cThe research shows that people are paying closer attention to their skin, but greater awareness also brings a greater need for clarity and trust,\u201d says Gene Colon, CeraVe\u2019s global senior vice president of medical relations and communications. \u201cAs the conversation around skin becomes increasingly complex, we want to give people something simple: credible science, effective skin care and the confidence to make informed choices for their skin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-md mb-6 leading-relaxed text-gray-500\">CeraVe used its EADV presence to highlight how it develops products. The company says it assesses formulas for safety, efficacy and tolerability with input from scientific and medical experts, and that its safety, claims and regulatory teams validate product claims.
