It’s no different if in my garden or on red carpet,” Anderson says of her pre-carpet prep.

Her routine, built entirely around her own line, Sonsie Skin, begins with the Sonsie Cleansing Mousse ($32), which she says is “hydrating and soothing” on its own. While her skin is still damp, she applies a generous amount of the Sonsie Super Serum ($64) and lets it dry before adding a small amount of Sonsie Adapt Cream ($58) to address any redness. She finishes with what she called her “favorite product,” the Sonsie Multi Moisture Cream ($48), a product she praises for “working equally well under light makeup or worn alone.” (Worth noting: Anderson also applies the same products to her hands and elbows.)

It’s the skin-first approach she says allowed her to go lighter on makeup for the Italian festival. “Sonsie is a great base and skin prep for any amount of makeup. If I’m filming a movie or on stage, it glows through.”

She also describes “a shift” in how she prepares for high-pressure moments like a festival red carpet compared to earlier in her career, saying she now prioritizes solitude over a full glam team. “I prefer time to myself before anything that might be stressful. So I prefer not to have too many people around me or gadgets. It’s my meditative time. I like to think through what I’m about to do. A singular vision,” she shares. “I think decisions made by committee are too safe. I want to find what I love and be that.”

Traveling to Venice, with the time zone changes and dry cabin air that come with it, Anderson said she relied on travel-sized versions of her Sonsie products to maintain her routine. She also teased a new SKU in development for the line. “I’m creating a new hydrating product that I’m excited to share soon that will complement the line nicely. I have begged for it. It’s nice to work with my team that are prophetic researchers. This line is everything I love and my skin has never looked better. I can honestly say my skin texture is better now than in my 30s and 40s.”

Anderson, who has appeared on red carpets and magazine covers without makeup, says she still enjoys wearing it when the mood strikes—typically a cream blush, a tinted lip balm she’s been testing and a brown eyeliner wing with or without a small lash. “I feel like I’m experimenting always. Most importantly is that I do what I want. I am free to present myself in any way. I’m not just one thing—I am free.”

[55
