Erin Andrews says she has been on both sides of that delay and is direct about what catching something early gave her.

On a recent episode of The Beauty Authority, we caught up with Andrews, the FOX Sports NFL reporter and founder of the sports apparel line WEAR by Erin Andrews, days before she left for six months of travel with the league. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016 and has since partnered with Cancerguard, a prescription blood test that looks for signals of more than 50 cancer types and subtypes.

Her Wellness Nonnegotiables

Andrews found her cervical cancer early enough to treat it, and that timing is why she talks about screening at all. “Early detection is key,” she says. Her message is less about fear than about the calendar: “Make time for yourself, regardless of whether you’re working or you have a family. You have to make time for yourself.”

She knows the real obstacle is not the appointment, but what it might turn up, and she is unsentimental about the math: “The news is a lot better when you go early versus putting it off, and that’s something I know I’m a testament to.”

The Screening She’s Talking About Now

“It’s a prescription blood test, which I actually did. It helps screen for more than 50 cancer types and subtypes,” she says. It starts with a prescription and a simple blood draw, and results go back to the ordering provider. She is careful about what it does not do: “It doesn’t take the place of your routine screening, but it complements it.”

The cancers she points to include those with no routine screening at all: “pancreatic, ovarian, liver, stomach cancers.” Cancerguard is a laboratory-developed test, not FDA-approved, and it is designed to sit alongside mammograms, Pap tests and colonoscopies. Her advice on results: “Talk to your medical professional about that, and you know, get more information.”

Her Everyday Routine

Her own maintenance is unglamorous and constant. “I’m very adamant about working out every single day. Did a 6 a.m. Pilates today because I knew I had to get it in,” she says. The rest falls under the longevity umbrella right now: vitamins and supplements every morning, IV drips when she needs them and extra immune support now that her 3-year-old is back in school. Red light therapy is the one she was still trying to fit in when we spoke. “I think that’s huge for you, your cells, circulation, anti-aging, the old glow.”

Favorite In-Office Treatments

“Oh yeah, I got to have all the treatments,” she says. She has been getting back into microneedling and working lasers into the rotation. “I’ve been doing some lasers just for a little tightening and brightening,” she says, as well as for acne scars. The trigger is her job: she travels constantly and “I have to wear a lot of makeup on air,” which comes with “some bouts with cystic acne here and there.” She would rather stay ahead of all of it. “The latest and greatest of what we can do for our face and for our hair is always right up my alley.”

On-the-Road Must-Haves

Six months of hotels and stadiums narrows a kit fast. “Obviously a really good moisturizer, because when you’re on the road in different hotels, different climates, that’s a big one for me,” she says. A good lip is next, plus a texture spray and a stick for flyaways. The standout is Color Wow Root Cover Up, which lands on plenty of root touch-up shortlists for the same reason she likes it. “If you’re in between appointments, that’s massive.”

Watch the full episode of The Beauty Authority above for more.

[55
