Their quality-of-life scores improved too, meaning the changes weren\u2019t just visible on skin; they were felt day to day.<\/p>\n Beyond the standard assessments, researchers used two more advanced imaging techniques, reflectance confocal microscopy and line-field optical coherence tomography, to look beneath the surface of the skin. Both picked up new pigment cells forming in patterns consistent with repigmentation. A lot of that activity clustered around hair follicles, often one of the first places color returns in vitiligo, and in the skin\u2019s deeper layers. Researchers note these particular findings were observational, not formally measured, so treat them as an early signal rather than a confirmed pattern.<\/p>\n The study was relatively small and only followed patients for three months, so researchers say larger, longer trials are still needed to see how durable these results are over time.<\/p>\n Still, for a condition that can take months or years to visibly respond to treatment, having imaging tools that catch early progress could make a real difference for patients and dermatologists trying to stay the course.
