As Hollywood prepared for the glamour of the\u00a098th Academy Awards\u00a0last night, actress\u00a0Ryan Michelle Bath\u00e9\u00a0stepped onto the red carpet with a vision that blended classic sophistication with a fresh, modern edge. Bath\u00e9 attended the ceremony alongside her husband, nominee\u00a0Sterling K. Brown, and while the night celebrates film\u2019s biggest achievements, the actress had a milestone of her own arriving almost immediately afterward. The goal: A refined aesthetic that balances timeless inspiration with a modern sensibility. \u201cWhat we\u2019re trying to channel is this line between old Hollywood glamour but with a modern take on it,\u201d Bath\u00e9 explains. \u201cIt\u2019s understated elegance, which is probably one of the more difficult things to nail\u2014but when you do, it\u2019s so satisfying.\u201d<\/p>\n Bath\u00e9 credits her glam team with turning the vision into reality. Working with stylist Felipe Gutierrez, hairstylist Marjorie Lightford and makeup artist Tai Rivera, she describes the process as \u201cless of a routine and more of an artistic collaboration.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cEveryone approaches the work from an artistic viewpoint\u2014balance, color theory, silhouette, shape,\u201d she says. \u201cThey\u2019re not just showing up and putting colors on my face. It feels like a true collaboration.\u201d<\/p>\n Sometimes, that creativity arrives in unexpected ways. She recalls a previous red carpet look when Lightford suddenly had a fully formed hairstyle idea. \u201cShe was like, \u2018I was on the treadmill and it came to me. It\u2019s a bob,\u2019\u201d Bath\u00e9 says with a laugh. \u201cAnd everyone just fell in line behind that vision.\u201d<\/p>\n Before any makeup hits the skin, Bath\u00e9 says her approach to beauty begins with expert skin care. Her go-to pros include celebrity aesthetician\u00a0Shani Darden\u00a0and Beverly Hills dermatologist\u00a0Jessica Wu, MD.<\/p>\n \u201cFor me, everything starts with the best aesthetician you can find and the best dermatologist you can find,\u201d she says. \u201cBetween Jessica Wu and Shani Darden here in L.A., that\u2019s ground zero. I literally call Shani\u2019s assistant and beg! And if Shani can\u2019t fit me in, I\u2019ll beg her to just pat my face as I drive by her studio!\u201d<\/p>\n Bath\u00e9 is also devoted to Darden\u2019s retinol formulas and says skin health is something she\u2019s taken seriously after years of dealing with acne and scarring. \u201cSkin care isn\u2019t just self-care for me, it\u2019s health care,\u201d she says. \u201cAcne can be indicative of other things going on in the body. Clear skin can reflect overall health, so it\u2019s been a journey.\u201d<\/p>\n Beyond the red carpet glamour, Bath\u00e9 admits she\u2019s feeling a bit nervous about another major moment this week, the release of her episode of Paradise<\/em> on Monday.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll be honest, I\u2019m a little nervous,\u201d she says. \u201cEveryone always asks what it\u2019s like being married to Sterling, and it\u2019s wonderful.
